National Rubber Technologies is one of the largest manufacturers of premium grade Railway Tie Pads in the industry. Our Tie Pads are made of Symar® masticated rubber which is our proprietary fully cured fiber-reinforced masticated rubber made from recycled tire crumb and formulated for superior ozone and weather resistance.

Symar Tie Pads are a highly durable, flexible and resilient thermoset rubber available in a variety of shapes and sizes. Our unique combination of rubber compounds and fiber reinforcement creates a product that cannot be matched by virgin rubber products alone. During the manufacturing process fibers are added to the base rubber compounds to create an internal stiffening much like steel reinforced concrete. This mesh structure delivers superior tensile and compressive strength, stiffness, tear resistance, and durability. Symar Tie Pads are constructed in a unique cross ply process giving uniform physical properties in all directions.

Our Railway Tie Pads are manufactured in continuous cure presses, not batch presses, which allows us to economically produce custom shapes and sizes and meet the demands of large scale railway projects. Stock sizes are available ranging from 1/8” (3.175mm) to 1” (25.4mm). Custom sizes can be made to suit your application. The pads can be statically loaded up to 2000 psi (13.8 MPa) and dynamically loaded up to 1000 psi (6.9 MPa) for shock or vibration applications.
